Mindfulness and Work, 4-week course, October 2019, Cardiff

Mindfulness is a valuable workplace skill; both to support yourself but also to share with colleagues and clients. On this course you will explore what mindfulness is, the benefits and scientific theory. You will have the opportunity to experience mindfulness techniques and develop/deepen your own mindfulness practice. Finally it will be a space in which to reflect on how you might bring mindfulness into your work context and relationships.

The trainers

Vicki Worsley is an experienced meditator, counsellor, teacher and trainer. She trained in mindfulness with Jon Kabat-Zinn (USA), Thich Nhat Hanh (France) and at Bangor University. She has practised mindfulness since the mid-90s and has an MA in Buddhist Studies from Bristol University. Vicki has over 25 years’ experience as a trainer, working in businesses, universities, the British Council and her own business, Mindful Space. Through Mindful Space she has successfully trained over 700 people in the last 10 years including in the NHS, Companies House, schools, local government and universities.

Andy Wilson (MSc Counselling, Bristol; MBA, Warwick; BA, Psychology, Durham; PGCE, UWE) is a counsellor, coach and trainer based in Cardiff. He has an evidence-informed approach, in particular drawing on mindfulness-based therapy, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (Greenberg and Elliot). Andy uses mindfulness with his clients and has been practising meditation for over 30 years.


Who is the course for?

The course is aimed at anyone who would like to deepen their understanding of mindfulness and bring mindfulness skills into their workplace.

Course content

We will draw on the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn (MBSR) and Mark Williams et al (MBCT). This practical course includes input and discussion on the theory and principles of mindfulness, mindfulness techniques and the opportunity to apply the teachings to your life and work.


Home practice

To get the most out of the course we encourage you to set up and maintain a regular mindfulness practice.

Learning Environment

A central part of the learning on this workshop will take place between students, in the group. For this learning to take place it is essential that the group environment is comfortable, friendly and supportive. We see it as a key part of our role to facilitate this environment.

FAQs

What is the refund policy?

You can cancel your registration up until the first day of the course. There is a cancellation fee of 40%. Once the course has started it's not possible to cancel your place.

Is my registration transferrable?

It's not possible to transfer this registration to another event. You will need to cancel this booking and then rebook on the new event.
